We have camps available to youth of various ages. The price breakdowns and age ranges are described below. Who Should Apply?

Youth between ages 10-17 who:

  • show interest in computers or technology
  • are strong academically
  • are analytical
  • like to tinker
  • like science
  • want to understand how technology works

Past Camps

Since beginning in 2014, Camp BYOC has invested and trained approximately 50 students to build and maintain their own computers. Each year we have improved the program to add younger students and grow the skills...

  • An introduction to the world of computer technology. Three days during the 1st week of June, the sessions are designed to expose the student to computer technology concepts including the history, current and future trends.  The student will understand the many facets of technology with some experiences to help decide if they want more.

    You will leave with an appreciation of how computers work and how they have helped shape society.  You will leave with new knowledge, some hands on experience and a Rasberry Pi computer.

    Ages 10-18
    • Wednesday 1pm - 5pm, Thursday and Friday - 9am - 5pm
    • Exposure to Computer Concepts
    • Exposure to Computer History, Today's and Future Trends
    • Exposure to Programming
    • Learn Rasberry Pi - micro computer 
    Cost: $150
    Interested students can advance to the Into to Engineering or the Jr Engineering camps.
  • For students who want an introduction to technology to get exposure and decide if they want to make a deeper commitment.  Students who are 12 and older can advance to the Jr Engineering camp if they decide they want more. All students are eligible for Club BYOC after the summer.
    Ages 10-17
    • Four Sessions, One Week Each(you can take one or more sessions)
      • each session builds on the previous and is the pre-requisite to the next

    • Participate in Rasberry Pi Automation Projects
    • Write Your Own Program
    Cost: the first session is $225 and each additional session is $125
  • Ages 12-17
    • Two Weeks
    • Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
    • Computer Hardware - Build Your Own Computer
    • Basic Networking
    • Basic Computer Graphics
    • Basic Python Programming
    • Write Your Own Program
    • Basic 3D Printing
    • Intro to Sound Engineering
    • Learn Rasberry Pi - micro computer
    • Create Rasberry Pi Projects
    • Understand Technology iin Society
    • Understand the History, Current Trends and Future of Computer Technology
    • Understand the many Facets of Computer Technology

    Cost: $375

  • Ages 12+ - Associate and Senior Engineering Camps

    Associate and Senior Engineering camps are 2 weeks each. These are offered sequentially so that a student can attend both camps.

    • Intro to Computer Repair
    • Basic Networking
    • Advanced Basic and Intermediate Programming
    • Sound Engineering
    • Web Development and App Development
    • Intermediate Graphic Design and Intro to Animation

    • Intro to Data Modeling
    • Apply Technology Skills to Project(s)
    • Trip to Silicon Valley to see tech companies first hand
    Cost: $300 for each camp
  • After completing the Senior Engineering Camp, students can continue growing their technical and leadership skills by becoming a mentor to other students.  They teach sessions and coach students as they learn.
    They teach sessions during the Intro to Engineering and Jr Engineering camps.  They coach new students as they learn to build their own computer.  They continue building their technical skills through more advanced project work throughout the summer.

    Cost: $35/session

    All summer camp participants are eligible to join.

    Interested youth (10-17) who are not past camp participants can apply.

  • A competition team in the making.  Applicants must be Camp BYOC students and must qualify to join.

Your Help & Support Is Critical

Volunteer Help And Support

We need volunteers to assist with running the camps, teaching students, updating the camp course curriculum, fundraising, and marketing. Our biggest and most challenge endeavor is an "end of summer camp" trip to Silicon Valley for select Jr. & Sr. Engineering students, chaperons, and camp administrators.

Fundraising efforts are key to providing financial aid to the students for the trip and for helping to reduce other student expenses, like hardware and software.
