STEM FUNDAMENTALS 110

Students will get an overall picture of the world of computers.  Students will be exposed to several facets of technology and will get hands on experiences.

 

Ages 10-17                                                        

  • Computer Technology - the components of a computer
  • Simple Machines  - understand motors and gears and how they apply to robotics
  • Robotics - understand what robots are
  • Computer Math - binary
  • Coding - scratch and intro to python
  • Data Science - how data is compiled and analyzed
  • Vocabulary - common terms used in computer technology
  • Disciplines - technology careers - similarities and differences

Simple Machines and Basics of Robotics

Simple Machines and Basics of Robotics-110

 

Students will learn about the different types of machines and will build several over the course of the week.  Students will see motors and gears in action.  Students will get an understanding of robots and how they relate to machines and will have lots of hands on experiences.  Students will see how machines and robots are impacting the world today.

Ages 10 and up                                                       

  • Simple Machines  - understand motors and gears and how they apply to robotics
  • Make Different Simple Machines
  • Learn the Basics of Robotics (prepares for the Intro to Robotics)

Intro to Robotics 110

 Intro to Robotics-110

This session focuses on circuits and robots.  Students will put circuits together and see them work. They will work on DIY robotics.  They will leave with an appreciation of basic robots, circuitry and computing.

Intro to Web Development and Graphics - 110

This session focuses on learning to create a website, the elements of web design and graphic design techniques. With hands on projects students will experience a taste allowing them to experience what it is like to create digital art and a web page to display that art.

Computing and Automation 110

 

Automation and Computing-110

 

 

This session focuses on computer automation using a Raspberry Pi and how computers work.

Students will learn how to use a Raspberry Pi computer to create code and set up automation projects with sensors and other devices.  Students will gain insights into the hardware inside and the flow of data. 

Students will leave with new knowledge of computing technology and experiences creating devices that will ignite more curiosity.

Ages 9-17                                                         

  • Understand the Raspberry Pi
  • Computer Automation Projects with the Raspberry Pi
  • Understand the Components Inside a Computer
  • Understand Data Flows Within the Computer
  • Scratch and Python Coding
  • Exposure to Computers Past, Present and Future Trends                          

Cost: $275.  Qualify for a 20% discount by registering for 2 or more sessions or referring another student.

Scholarships may be available.
