Explorer Spring Break Camp Costs - Ages 9 and Up

Python Coding - 122

This class is an introduction to Python Coding. It focuses on coding commands and introduces logic thinking.  

Students will leave with coding experiences that can be used to develop more skills in Python and other coding languagues.

*Learning coding requires the ability to focus on the subject matter.

Intro to Graphic Design - 115

This session focuses on learning to the techniques to create and modify graphic images.  With hands on projects students will experience a taste allowing them to experience what it is like to create digital art and a web page to display that art.  

This will culminate in a challenge design contest.

Ages 9-17

  • Learn the basics of color schemes
  • Learn the basics of manipulating images
  • Learn the basics of creating images
  • Participate in a challenge to create the best design

STEM Fundamentals - 111

Students will get an overall picture of the world of computers.  Students will be exposed to several facets of technology and will get hands on experiences.

 Ages 9-17                                                        

  • Computer Technology - the components of a computer
  • Simple Machines  - understand motors and gears and how they apply to robotics
  • Robotics - understand what robots are
  • Computer Math - binary
  • Coding - scratch and intro to python
  • Data Science - how data is compiled and analyzed
  • Vocabulary - common terms used in computer technology
  • Disciplines - technology careers - similarities and differences

Simple Machines/Basic Robotics - 113

Students will learn about the different types of machines and will build several over the course of the week.  Students will see motors and gears in action.  Students will get an understanding of robots and how they relate to machines and will have lots of hands on experiences.  Students will see how machines and robots are impacting the world today.

Ages 9 and up                                                       

  • Simple Machines  - understand motors and gears and how they apply to robotics
  • Make Different Simple Machines
  • Learn the Basics of Robotics (prepares for the Intro to Robotics)

Computer Automation - 110

This session focuses on computer automation using a Raspberry Pi. 

Students will learn how to use a Raspberry Pi computer to create code and experience electronics projects with sensors and other devices.  

Students will leave with new knowledge of automation and experiences creating electronic devices.

Ages 9-17

Intro to Robotics 1 & 2 - 112

This session focuses on circuits and robots.  Students will put circuits together and see them work. They will work on DIY robotics.  They will leave with an appreciation of basic robots, circuitry and computing.

Robotics 2 includes more advanced robotics and will work on more complex DIY projects.

Computer Automation 2- 120

This session focuses on computer automation using a Raspberry Pi. 

Automation 2 will use a Raspberry Pi computer to create code and set up more complex automation projects with sensors and other devices.  Students will gain insights into the hardware inside and the flow of data. 

Students will leave with more advanced knowledge of automation techniques and experiences creating devices. Students will begin to learn the enginerring design process.

Ages 10-17

  • Automate electronics with the Raspberry Pi

Intro to Coding - 130

This class is an introduction to coding concepts using 2 platforms - Scratch and Python. It provides an understanding of how code works using a drag and drop platform. This approach allows students to learn quickly and see immediately how their code makes things happen in the computer. The hands-on approach allows the student to practice and gain experience.
